The Bishopp Story

Bishopp Outdoor Advertising began life as a small father and son home business on a farm outside Maryborough in 1993. The first 6 x 3m billboard on the road between Maryborough and Hervey Bay was for a small local business, the Dundathu Turf Farm. This billboard was bold and unmissable, and with it, Bishopp Outdoor was born.

Our purpose as a business was to grow and learn, building success together. We consider outdoor advertising a pivotal contributor to local, regional and national business growth, supporting communities and sustaining livelihoods. You will find our billboards in places that matter to each regional town, promoting local small businesses. Generally, these businesses operate within a 20km radius of the billboard itself!

Since our inception in 1993, Bishopp’s vision has been to provide innovative outdoor advertising solutions built on quality craftsmanship and underpinned by honesty, transparency and exceptional customer service. Founder Brad Bishopp was driven to make a positive difference in the industry, and the principles established by Brad almost 30 years ago still guide the business today.

A successful business doesn’t spring from individuals alone – it takes an entire family and team to build something truly remarkable. From our very first Billboard, we have worked hard to create an impact where it matters most. As business opportunities grew in those early years, we relocated to Wilston in 1997. Then Stafford saw us in our first combined office and factory two years later. From hiring staff, undertaking the Palmview Supersite Builds, travelling throughout Queensland to meet with property owners and business operators, to winning important Government tenders, our expansion continued.

By 2006 we relocated the business to Bishop Street, Kelvin Grove, and with the acquisition of Australian Poster Assets, operations were propelled to the next level. The Bishopp family was growing with a sales team, construction arm and management focused on the purpose and values of the early days.

Expanding market share across the next eight years saw the business and sales office move up the road to our current premises – 25 Bishop Street. 2014 also heralded the commercialisation of our business. The delivery of major TMR projects, construction of the Centenary Highway Supersites, and the installation of Digital Billboard assets positioned Bishopp as a major player in the out-of-home market.

In 2017 Bishopp took the business internationally with the acquisition of Interspace Airport Advertising, expanding into New Zealand and Australian airport advertising. The addition of 20 airports allowed Bishopp to remain focused on helping advertisers expand their reach. As 2018 approached, Bishopp’s construction business purchased a factory in Eagle Farm, where the design, fabrication, and billboard skins are now produced.

Today, we are as passionate and as driven as we were with our first Billboard installation. We are humbled by our local and regional advertisers and national brands, who continue to trust us to connect them with audiences of diverse demographics, lifestyles, and geographies. Celebrating the wins together makes for some great partnerships!

Trusted Brand

The trusted Bishopp brand was cemented by consistently delivering a range of affordable out-of-home advertising solutions across regional Queensland. In three decades of operation, Bishopp has proudly constructed over 1000 billboards and gained the trust and support of over 400 individual property owners and State and Local Governments. Local, regional and national businesses have trusted us to generate brand awareness and consideration of their products and services.

A Proud Story of Success

Today, our billboards are woven into the fabric of regional Queensland, supporting local businesses, providing information to regional communities and driving a strong relationship between brands and consumers. Our Airport advertising alone reaches more than 20 million passengers annually, and we also partner with top agencies to ensure efficient media planning for both global and national brands.

We are proud of our family values and work hard as market leaders responding quickly to client and landowner requirements. The objective to support, innovate and expand has put Bishopp in the driver’s seat as Australia’s largest privately-owned Out of Home Advertising company.
